No good deed goes unpunished – I took my tiller to some friends place to dig their first garden. Got a 4 x 100 foot bed tilled up and noticed oil was leaking out the tine shaft cover. Tore it open and discovered the bronze gear was shredding.
Every year I have some issue with the Troy Horse tiller. Tired of it. So I dug into my pre 64 coin piggy bank, and with silver at 35+ an ounce it didn’t break the bank to get a 60″ tiller attachment for the tractor. 1550 bucks – and the dealer took the silver at spot price!
I love breaking new ground in the alternative economy…
Got the implement home, hooked it up, went to a random piece of pasture and in three passes pulverized the prettiest 5 foot wide swath of ground you ever saw. What used to take all day is now going to be done in a half hour. With watermelons going for 4 bucks apiece and peppers at 75 cents I think I’m going to put in a truck garden. At the very least I’ll be able to grow a milo and sweet potato patch big enough to fatten a hog with. Life changed again…
