Infection, marauding hords and zombies - cannot forget the zombies! =)
In all seriousness, you are in a much better position than we, atm. We do harvest rain water and would have that to use, heat with wood, have a wood cook stove, garden yet are lacking in the grain/poultry/beef end. Tonite I think I will snag some dousing rods and see if I can locate a spring. Thank you for the inspiration!

Hey, Comrad.

Just thought I'd send out a friendly greeting. I haven't read your site for quite a while. I'm glad to know that we're not alone in feeling somewhat crazed. Murph and I, as you know, have moved, live simply, have chickens & a garden and greenhouse. The rigors of the mandatory daily routine to keep things going provides a welcome structure that keeps us at least semi-grounded.

Some people are getting it. I attended a town meeting, where we were asked to add new ideas on what to focus on. I suggested preparing for an economic collapse with community gardens, a tool bank, farmer's market, hitching posts for people who ride to work on horses or use carriages, or alternative things like bikes with electric motors, etc. To my surprise, a bunch of people ran over and put their "priority stickers" on my idea, and then told me I was gonna be on the committee to hire a new town planner!

Things start to look like there's a possibility that things might actually change and be somewhat better, and then I read more shit about crowd and mind control weaponry, Frankenfood, detention camps, Planet X, etc, etc. ..and look up at my daily dose of chemtrails.

If I didn't have to cut up a bunch of rhubarb to blanch and freeze, make bread, collect eggs, and water the garden today, I'd probably take the opportunity to go mad. But, as it is, I don't have time.

Hang in there, Buddy. As Clyde said to Bonnie, "Ain't life grand?"

I hope there is a wagon train going down my highway maybe once or twice a week in the future. The old Ft Smith to Ft Scott stage line watered the mules and horses at my spring in days of old.

Know the saying "too dumb to pour piss out of a boot?" Why does a bear shit in the woods? Because he can. Millions can't even let their dogs shit in the yard - gotta grab the poop with a bread sack, roll it inside out and throw it in the trash. I'm going to watch their meltdown very carefully.

I'm just paranoid that my online yammerings could be misunderstood by The Big Computer and assign a threat level to me that I don't warrant. I can blather on a bunch of mundane shit in a bucket type drivel and maybe somebody might plant a couple of peppers and a tomato. BFD Not worth my time maintaining a website.

So I'm going to go dark online. Zap the compost board if nobody wants the php script. Drop the homepage. Give up the domain name. Go back to being humble shoeshine boy. People are going to be cold, tired, broke and hungry soon and low profile is the way to be.

The net going down will be the opening salvo. Get a wind up am/fm/sw radio and secure it in a Faraday cage.

Plenty of great websites out there, I threw in my two cents.
The secret is crunched up dry leaves...

G*d damnit, Comrade, who the hell is going to teach everyone how to do this stuff if you take the easy way out and leave? Do you think they'll be able to learn how to shit in a bucket on their own? They don't even know how to vote in this country!

Well, if you must go, at least check in with us when the shit hits the fan. That way we'll know there is a comrade down that way in case the wagon train heads that direction.

All my best.

Guy who goes by Bags McGee is in the guest house. Twice what we asked for and three times what we hoped. His blog is
http://dietersmerrytravels.blogspot.com/

I'm practicing eating mustard greens straight from the garden, and dandelion greens, etc. Knock the taste buds into submission. There are only 22 main things that 99% of people recognize as "food", but over 200 edible plants in my forest, pasture, garden and lawn. I'm getting deadly serious about being responsible for my continued existence. King George deposited my check in the bank today and the shopping commenced immediately. Scythe, hand tools, a bang stick I've had on the list forever, the rest of what it takes to get water up from the spring to the house via pedal power.

Watch for my next post - one about how posting may not be a good idea anymore...
